Love it or hate it, there's no doubt that Social Media is here to stay. Facebook now has over 400 million active users and the number of celebrities using Twitter means that it is rarely out of the spotlight.
It's already making a huge difference to the way people use the web. As a result, businesses are increasingly taking advantage of the opportunity to reach new audiences.
The big question is - how should a business make the best use of social media?
I have to say that I am no social media expert myself. I am a part time Tweeter and a reluctant Facebooker. Regardless of this, I am certain that social media is going to form an increasingly important part of my business.
That's why I have taken the opportunity to get involved with the Cheltenham Social Media Café.
A small team from firehoop will be working to organise a series of gatherings at local cafés for anyone in the area who is interested in social media. The events will be casual and certainly won't be an opportunity for a 'hard-sell' from anybody.
The most important thing for me is that my team and I will get to know exactly what people are looking to get out of social media, and what services other people are offering. This will make sure we are in the best possible position to advise our clients.
With a bit of luck, we'll also meet some great people and have some fun along the way!
If you're in the area, I look forward to meeting you at the first Cheltenham SMC!
